We're excited to welcome players from across Victoria to try out for the Camberwell Dragons representative basketball program. Read everything you need to know before you arrive.
ABOUT THE TRYOUTS
What are the Camberwell Dragons Tryouts?
The Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) is the highest level of junior competition in Victoria. Our tryouts are the official selection process for all Camberwell Dragons representative teams for the 2027 season.
Players are evaluated by our elite coaching staff across multiple rounds of assessment, including fundamental skills testing, game situations, and athletic performance. Selection is highly competitive. Please note: EDL team selections are held shortly after VJBL tryouts. Players who are unsuccessful in gaining selection to a VJBL team are encouraged to attend EDL team selections, where they will have the opportunity to represent the Camberwell Dragons in the 2027 EDL season.
Tryout Timeline
Key dates and milestones for the 26/27 VJBL Tryout Season
Registration Opens
Online registrations for all prospective players. **No walk ups will be allowed registration is essential.
Pre Tryouts Round 1
For all players new to rep. ** Registrations close 3 days prior to tryout
Pre Tryouts Round 2 and PTTs from other VJBL Clubs
For all successful Pre Tryout 1 players and all current VJBL Players with a valid Permission To Train (PTT). ** PTTs registrations close 9pm Tuesday 29th September
Main Tryout 1
Returning Dragons & successful PTTs and pre tryout players. ** Registrations for Current Dragons close 9pm Tuesday 29th September

This is a combination of boys and Girls tryouts that will be held on different days

Things to Know Before You Arrive
What to Wear
A reversible light/dark top or bring a second top to change into, ensure your arm and leg is visible with your playing number
Player Numbers
Numbers to be written in black marker on both your left and right upper arm and lower leg
Cost
A non-refundable $20 registration fee applies to all participants
Parent/Guardian
Must remain seated and must not approach the court or coaches during the tryout session
Bring a Drink Bottle
Bring your own water. No drinks will be supplied by the club.
Arrive Early
Arrive at least 20 minutes before your scheduled start time.
